There is help. Here's where to find it

Abuse isolates, distorts perspective, and can make you feel like you’re facing this on your own. SoulForge is a community of men who understand these issues because we have been through them ourselves. Support isn't about handing yourself over to someone else — it's about getting alongside people who understand, so you can start to see your situation clearly again. We provide a space for listening, clarity, and support. Whether you need immediate guidance, someone to listen, or longer-term strategies to rebuild your life, there are ways to take the next step.

If You Need Immediate Help

Your safety, and that of your children, comes first. If you or your children are in danger, call 999. If you need advice or police assistance in a non-emergency situation, call 101.

For mental health support in crisis or suicidal thoughts, contact Samaritans on 116 123, available 24/7. You do not need to explain everything immediately — simply speaking to someone can start to lift the weight of isolation.

If children are at risk, contact your local authority’s Children’s Services through your council website. They are trained to respond to safeguarding concerns and can provide practical guidance and intervention if needed.

Even one call can make a difference. Reaching out early may prevent harm, provide clarity, and begin the process of regaining control.

Specialist Advice for Male Victims

Men often feel invisible in conversations about domestic abuse, and that isolation can make it difficult to understand what’s happening or what options exist. Specialist male support services exist precisely to bridge that gap.

Contact the Men's Advice Line on 0808 801 0327 or email info@mensadviceline.org.uk. They can help you understand abusive behaviours, explore your options, and consider next steps in a confidential, non-judgmental space.

For mental health concerns, you can also contact Mind on 0300 123 3393 or speak to your GP. A GP can help document injuries, provide referrals for counselling or therapy, and support you if stress, anxiety, or trauma is affecting your daily life.

Specialist advice is about guidance and perspective, helping you see the situation clearly and regain confidence in decision-making.

If You’re Not Ready for Formal Support

Support does not have to start with a crisis. Many men begin by quietly exploring their situation before talking to anyone formally.

Even small steps can be significant: talking to a trusted friend or family member, keeping a private journal, saving communications, or making notes of incidents. These actions help you reflect on your experiences, recognise patterns, and gradually build clarity.

Some men are worried about taking action, thinking they should “stay for the children” or “manage it alone.” Speaking to someone who has lived experience, like the men at SoulForge, can help you understand the risks, think through your options, and plan next steps safely.

Support can begin with curiosity and reflection — noticing and documenting what is happening is already a first step toward reclaiming control.

SoulForge Community – Our Current and Future Offerings

SoulForge is a community of men who have experienced domestic abuse and parental alienation. We understand because we’ve been there. We listen, we clarify, and we support men as they regain control of their lives.

Currently, we offer a confidential call-back service. You can use the Get in Touch page to request a call from someone trained in male abuse experiences. This is not legal or formal counselling, but a supportive, understanding conversation — a first step toward clarity and guidance.

Coming soon, SoulForge will expand to include:

  • Peer support groups where men can connect safely with others who understand what they are going through

  • Resilience-building workshops

  • Structured programmes to help men rebuild confidence and emotional stability

  • Community spaces focused on learning, support, and growth

Our approach is about long-term recovery and empowerment, not just crisis intervention.

A Final Word

Nobody figures this out overnight. But the men who come through it — and they do come through it — are usually the ones who stopped trying to carry it alone. Whatever your next step looks like, SoulForge Community is here when you're ready.
